Firstly, Jane offered to comb through all programmes of ICOS shows for the period 1972-82 and list the participants (over 600 names) before trying to find contact details for as many as possible. Planning a  “Budleigh Experience” to lure people down the M5 or A303 (perhaps crossing Salisbury Plain on a bicycle) on the first weekend in September would need to consider factors such as accommodation( would there be enough?), catering (what facilities did the hall have now?) and entertainment (would people be up for singing, dancing, what else?).

Cecily volunteered to organise the catering, which incontrovertibly had to include cream teas, à la Southern Cross, and Budleigh fish & chips. After the Public Hall was booked the action list soon expanded to include collecting photos and other memorabilia, setting up a quiz in the style developed by Roger Woodward during lockdown for IMVC, preparing a list of music we could perform and conductors and soloists who could remember it (organised by Debbie) and cajoling instrumentalists into playing for a barn dance (organised by Jane). Tim created a group email facility and the word was out, generating much excited anticipation.                                                                     …. more
